Sea of Love | Poem | Linda J Wolff

See how you look at me,

like a lost soul in search of love,

walk close enough

and my breath is felt upon your neck?

Feel the sense of it, how you turn to

capture my kiss.

See how I smile at you, and how your eyes glisten

the cues we take on how to ignite this

moment, this conversation?

Curving smiles, sweet coated words,

our eyes lock on to one another,

continuous and flirtatious.

If a breeze to an ocean, you would be the waves

capsizing and I’d watch as you’d collapse into my arms.

Eleven Blackbirds | Poem | Linda J Wolff

Break the wings of a broken bird,

cage it, and view a slow death,

or throw seeds upon a murky ground

puddle a pool of tears,

watch wings spread, mend, open a window

and set it free.

Dawn awakens the dead, a once broken winged bird

brings eleven friends.

Man Walking | Poem | Linda J Wolff

a shadow wandering across the sands of time,

searching for the truest part of self,

it’s moral thread and vanity on the

fringes of time.

oh, to be the regard for one’s destiny,

to be the flaw and the well-being of the soul.

The breeze

and your hair in the air,

my love on your sleeve,

and all I see is nighttime city lights.

Reminded, we’re here, if only for a moment.

Neon Rain

Poem by Linda J Wolff

After the rain,

neon frames blur a

stigma of the night.

Umbrellas, and I, repelled,

the shear chill

and degrading disparage cast.

The succession of pitch, how it

connects and I, omitted the

mannerism of its intentions.

I, thrust aside a

shift of emotions,

walking softly lifting

feet and the stigma of pain.

Close and Far. Near Again. | Poem | Linda J Wolff

Close and Far. Near Again.

Poem by Linda J Wolff

Not ascending, but without descending.

If I could be near enough to grasp my true-self,

will I capture the essence of it in a evolutionary capsule

or hear the footsteps of myself starting over at the bottom,

knowing that I’ve been here before.

And a repeated step. Mental steps beyond other

steps elsewhere to different places, like

songbirds singing echoes through

wandering mountain ranges, constituting a return.

What is beyond the repeated pattern yet another

combination of footsteps, another series of lessons

and exerted efforts? Dynamics change

from place to place, lesson to lesson, transference

of answers to be yielding. Are we listening?
